Hey everyone, my name is Robert.  I’m excited to be a part of GSAC's 79th board and I’m very much looking forward to the coming year. I first heard about the GSAC during the ACLO sportplaza of 2022. That day I set foot (and hand) on a climbing wall for the very first time, it was great. Here I also met that year’s board, who convinced me to join the intro BBQ. I might’ve drank a little too much at that BBQ, but I did manage to nearly perfectly fill in my membership form. Apart from a single, kind of important thing. My own first name. This is why most of you know me as Robé.

Joining GSAC has been one of the best decisions I made in a long time. I've met a bunch of wonderful people and am looking forward to getting to know a whole lot more. Hope to see you at the Toeter sometime soon!

Abactis:
Robyn Godkewitsch

abactis@gsac.nl

Hello, I’m Robyn! I am the abactis of 2024, and I’ll introduce myself for a little bit. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, and came to Groningen three years ago to study Biology, and that is also when I joined the GSAC. I have 100 hobbies, a lot of which involve crafting and drawing, but also wine making, and obviously climbing.

The first time I climbed outside with the GSAC, was the summer week to Ailefroide in 2022, where I got my single pitch signature, and a world opened for me. Last year I had no time for that yet, but this year I will definitely try to do the multi pitch course.

Fiscus:
Wyncko Tonckens

fiscus@gsac.nl

Hello my name is Wyncko and I am honored to call myself your Fiscus for the next year! As a Fiscus I prefer numbers over letters so I will keep my introduction short.

I was born and raised in Groningen and like to think of myself as the eierbal connoisseur of the board. I have been bouldering since 2019 and joined the GSAC in 2022 to get into rock climbing, a decision I still far from regret.
When you can't find me on a climbing weekend I am probably camping somewhere else with scouts and when I am not taking money from your bank account you can usually find me hanging around in the best boulderhal in Groningen: Gropo!!!

Fiscally yours,

Wyncko

Materiaalcommissaris:
Niels Mennega

materiaal@gsac.nl

My name is Niels and I am very happy to be your new gear commissioner (MatCo) this year. My life started on Texel in early spring 2001, where my parents conceived me in a small bungalow in the outskirts of Den Burg, ‘I believe’, but fortunately I had luck to be born in most beautiful city of the Netherlands, Groningen. Here I was raised, and here I still live to this day. I started climbing in the summer of 2019, after a continues long search for fourteen years for a sport which I would love and in which I would embed myself for the foreseeable future. Insane to believe that this is almost five years ago now. When I started with studies two years later I was in desperate need of new climbing buddies and friends. As a gift from the heavens the GSAC was the true lord and savior, the one that plucked me out of gutter in those desperate, deprived and rugged days. From that point onwards I developed my climbing skills. I started climbing outdoors, first single pitch climbing, and later multi-pitch climbing. I ‘elevated’ my skills in alpinism (pun intended) by doing my C1 and C2, and I descended the deepest ravens during some astonishing canyoning tours and courses. More recently I have had the urge to strengthen my self-confidence by learning the basics of trad climbing. In other words I am always excited to learn new stuff and push the boundaries of myself. Right now I hope to defeat the final end boss in the game of GSAC by throwing myself in the baptism of fire by becoming MatCo in the 79th board, along with five amazing friends who I got to meet during my three year run at the GSAC. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot my studies again! I am a third year bachelor student of Human Geography and Planning, so if I keep on rambling on about geological processes, demography, urbanism, anthropology, and planning, you know where it is coming from. 😊

Muurcommissaris:
Jannis Koulman

muur@gsac.nl

Wassup, I'm Jannis, the new Muurcommisaris aka routebuilder supreme! I was born in the Netherlands but grew up in the UK and am studying Mathematics at the RUG. In september 2022, I joined the GSAC and started climbing. I was immediately hooked! Since joining, I learnt to climb outdoors, climbed a 7a, got injured and learnt how to build awesome routes from the routebuilding master, Jelmer Folkertsma! My favourite GSAC memory is probably lead climbing Sweet Sixty on the Kamel in Ith during the Bikkelweekend with the new Fiscus, Wyncko. This was my first hard proper outdoor redpoint and it was awesome!

Weekendcommissaris:
Noa Wallace

weekend@gsac.nl

Hey there! I am Noa, your new WeekendCo... but probably better known as 'the reason that the board speaks and works in English'. Some quick facts about me: I got into climbing two years ago while working as a hiking guide in Zion National Park (USA). Many of the other guides were skilled climbers, and they were kind enough to teach me how to climb on the incredible Utah desert sandstone. Organising weekends felt like a natural fit since the outdoors is where my climbing began! Besides that, being in the wilderness away from any civilisation, road trips, camping, and hiking are all staples of Canadian culture and have been a massive part of my life from a very young age. Being an international, I feel really lucky to have joined GSAC within a few weeks of moving to Groningen. Packing your life into a suitcase and starting over in a new country is never a particularly easy transition; and although I miss the Rocky Mountains, being welcomed into this community has really helped me to feel that the Netherlands is my home. Aside from climbing, I love running, travelling, OCDing (colour coding and labelling is my jam) and spending quality time with my doggie. However, most days you'll find me wasting away at the UB studying international and european / technology law. All in all, I'm really looking forward to our board year and going on new adventures! Please always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions :)
